The State Archives currently has Alabama county probate records including birth certificates, deeds, death certificates, estates, marriage certificates, and wills, Alabama state records including Confederate veterans' records, militia records (includes Indian wars, War of 1812, Mexican War, and other pre-Civil War service), Revolutionary War records, Spanish-American War records, World War I records, federal land record indexes, state census records, other Alabama records, surname files or genealogical folders, maps, private manuscripts, newspapers on microfilm, family histories, federal records of Alabama residents, and confederate compiled service records index cards censuses from 1820 through 1920.
