Finding residences with tax records
Tax records vary from state to state, but will normally have the name and residence of the taxpayer, as well as a description of their property. To obtain a copy of a tax record, write to the county or town clerk in the place where your ancestor may have lived. Addresses for county and town clerks are available through state and county government offices.
