Sources for New England Family Histories #2, 1600s-1800s:

This Family Archive contains electronically searchable text of the pages of the First and the Third Series of William Richard Cutter's New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial. Originally published by the Genealogical Publishing Company, the eight volumes that make up these series contain information on nearly 2000 families and approximately 20,000 individuals with genealogical ties to New England.

Each family history is traced forward from the oldest known ancestor of the line to the family member featured in the sketch for whom a biography is provided. This sketch is frequently followed by additional, family lines that link to the subject of the essay. The essays cover New England from the colonial period through the early twentieth century -- many lineages go back to the sixteenth century and others contain Mayflower connections and ties to early Puritan settlers. They illustrate the influence of New England on the settlement of the states to the west.
