data set contains alphabetical listings of approximately 272,000 individuals who
were married in Ohio between 1851 and 1900. It's a great resource — including
information on unions that occurred before marriages were registered with the
state. You'll find previously uncollected marriage records together in one place.
Once you have the details
provided by the marriage index on this data set, you may be able to contact the
locality in which the marriage took place to request a copy of the original marriage
record. Original marriage records can often provide you with more information,
such as the names and birthplaces of the bride's and groom's parents, addresses
of the bride and groom, information about previous marriages, and witnesses' names
