Grow your family tree with
this data:
With the marriage date and location, as well as the groom's name and bride's maiden
name, you can immediately fill in holes in your family tree. The marriage date
and location also tell you where to look for a copy of the original marriage record
or even an announcement in a newspaper. From these, you may learn more important
family details, such as the names and birthplaces of the bride's and groom's parents
and the names of other witnesses to the event.

What
does this product give you?
You'll discover marriage information for approximately 161,000 individuals whose
marriages were recorded in Michigan and Wisconsin between 1830 and 1900. This
data set brings together previously uncollected marriage records and gives you
easy access to information that you would otherwise have to obtain from local
sources.
Marriage indexes can save
you research time by telling you that a particular marriage record containing
your ancestor's name exists. With the information provided, you may be able
to find a newspaper announcement, which may provide more details about the bride,
groom, and their families.
Once you have the details
provided by the marriage index on this data set, you may be able to contact
the locality in which the marriage took place to request a copy of the original
marriage record. Original marriage records can often provide you with more
information, such as the names and birthplaces of the bride's and groom's parents,
addresses of the bride and groom, information about previous marriages, and
witnesses' names.
What are the data sources for this product?
Original marriage records located in Family History Library microfilm, microfiche,
or books. Location of source is referenced with record. Please note that not
every county is included in this index, see the list
of counties covered for details.
