What does this product give you?
This data set lists approximately 400,000 individuals who appeared in census records, passenger lists, church records, baptism and marriage records, and land records. Uniquely created from a number of cross-referenced genealogical resources, this data set establishes a comprehensive record for each person. An individual's United States records are linked to the same individual's records in the Netherlands, thus tracing that person's immigration. Generally, individual immigrants and families are traced from the village of origin to the county or town of settlement.


What are the data sources for this product?
The majority of the records collected here are from public archives. Sources include the National Archives in Washington, D.C., the Canadian National Archives in Ottawa, and the Netherlands National Archives in The Hague, Netherlands. Frisian population registers were compiled from selected municipal registers in Friesland. Lastly, church records (membership rosters and records of vital events) were found in congregational and denominational archives.

This collection of source records is the result of more than 40 years research by Robert P. Swierenga, the author of nine books and more than 40 articles on Dutch immigration. Dr. Swierenga originally compiled this data for the purpose of writing the story of Dutch immigration to the United States in the nineteenth century.

What are the system requirements?
A CD-ROM drive, and one of the following programs: Family Tree Maker for Windows® version 3.02 or higher or the FREE Family Archive Viewer version 3.02 or higher. Please note, this CD-ROM is not recommended for use with Family Tree Maker for Power Macintosh.
