Lincoln's Assassination

  1. On April 14, 1865, President Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington. He was shot in the back of the head by John Wilkes Booth. How did he hear about this event? What was his reaction?

  2. What did he think of President Lincoln? Did he agree with his actions as President?

  3. "Revenge for the South" is what Booth yelled out. He escaped and was later killed in a barn in Virginia. The barn had been set on fire, but Booth died from a bullet wound. What did he think about Booth's death? Was it just? Had he hoped Booth would be brought to trial?
