| A shy and
soft-spoken man, Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the
United States. He was one of five delegates to the second Continental
Congress charged with documenting the reasons for the colonies'
break with Britain. With little modification, this would become
the Declaration of Independence. Later, his love
for architecture, philosophy, and education would come together
when he would found the University of Virginia at Charlottesville.
