1. Dolley¹ Payne (John², Josias³, George⁴, William⁵), daughter of John Payne and Mary Coles, was born in Guiliford County, North Carolina, British American Colonies 20 MAY 1768. Dolley died 12 JUL 1849 in Lafayette Square, Washington, DC, at 81 years of age.

She married twice. She married John Jr. Todd 1790. John died 1793. She married James Madison 15 SEP 1794. James was born in Port Conway, Virginia 16 MAR 1750/51. James died 28 JUN 1836 in Montpelier, Virginia, USA, at 85 years of age.

Dolley Payne and John Jr. Todd had the following children:

3 ii. William Temple Todd. William died 1793.
