The daughter of popular radio ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and model Frances Westerman Bergen, Candice Bergen was famous even before she was born on May 9, 1946. An actress early on, she began performing as a child alongside the puppets in her father's act (Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd). As a teenager, Candice modeled before segueing into acting in films and on television. Highlights of her career include an Academy Award nomination in 1979 for Starting Over and numerous Emmys for her work as television's Murphy Brown (1988-1998). She has one daughter (with husband Louis Malle who died in 1995) and is married to real estate executive and philanthropist Marshall Rose.
