24. James⁴ Cheney (Roswell⁵, John⁶, Tristram⁷, John⁸, John⁹, Peter¹⁰, John¹¹) was born in Sutton, Caledonia, Vermont 16 Dec 1817.⁽⁵⁶⁾ James died 13 Dec 1903 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana, at 85 years of age.⁽⁵⁷⁾

He married Nancy Evans ca 1842.⁽⁵⁸⁾ Nancy was born in Defiance County, Ohio 21 Feb 1824.⁽⁵⁹⁾ Nancy died 27 Jun 1895 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana, at 71 years of age.⁽⁶⁰⁾

James Cheney and Nancy Evans had the following children:

25 i. Helen³ Cheney was born in Ohio ca 1843.⁽⁶¹⁾ She married J.A. Kimberly.

26 ii. R. W. Cheney was born in Ohio ca 1845.⁽⁶²⁾

27 iii. Mary Cheney. She married John Nelson.
