5. John William Thomas³ Boothe (John Waters⁴) was born in Maryland 31 Oct 1838.⁽¹⁹⁾ John died 20 May 1910 at 71 years of age.⁽²⁰⁾

He married Sarah Rebecca Deaver. Sarah was born 15 Apr 1840.⁽²¹⁾ Sarah died 3 Jan 1926 at 85 years of age.⁽²²⁾ There are stories that John William Thomas Boothe changed the spelling of his last name, by adding the E, after John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln.

Research however, does not appear to prove this out as all records for John and his ancestors include the E in the spelling. Of course, spelling variations are bound to happen from record to record, but the majority of those found include the E in the spelling, and on records much earlier than the 1860s⁽²³⁾.

John William Thomas Boothe and Sarah Rebecca Deaver had the following children:

7 iii. Edward Boothe.

8 iv. Ida Boothe. She married Keables.
