9. Artelia³ Roney (John⁴, Benjamin⁵, James⁶, James⁷) was born 1829. Artelia died 2 Aug 1858 in Haw River, Alamance, North Carolina, at 29 years of age.⁽¹¹⁾ Whitaker's Centennial History of Alamance County, 1849-1949 (http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~mwellis/book/c hapter13.html) lists her year of death as 1853, but this is not supported by other research.

She married Washington Duke 9 Dec 1852. Washington was born in North Carolina 18 Dec 1820.⁽¹²⁾ Washington was the son of Taylor Duke and Dicey Jones. Washington died 8 May 1905 in North Carolina, at 84 years of age. (See Washington Duke for the children resulting from this marriage.)
