He married Sarah Cooper in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, 23 Mar 1661/2.⁽¹³⁵⁾ Sarah was born in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut 21 Sep 1645.⁽¹³⁶⁾ Sarah was the daughter of John Cooper. Sarah died 20 Sep 1711 in East Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, at 65 years of age.⁽¹³⁷⁾

Samuel Hemenway and Sarah Cooper had the following children:

82 iv. Hannah Hemenway was born 14 Sep 1670.⁽¹⁴⁵⁾ She married John Howe in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, bef 1693.⁽¹⁴⁶⁾

83 v. Elizabeth Hemenway was born 16 Feb 1672.⁽¹⁴⁷⁾ She married three times. She married Nathaniel Finch in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, ca 1693.⁽¹⁴⁸⁾ This marriage was later "denounced by both parties," according to Torrey.

She married Zachariah Howe ca 1702.⁽¹⁴⁹⁾ She married Samuel Brockett 5 Aug 1718.⁽¹⁵⁰⁾

84 vi. John Hemingway was born 29 May 1675.⁽¹⁵¹⁾ John died 1737 at 62 years of age.⁽¹⁵²⁾ He married Mary Morris in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, bef 1700.⁽¹⁵³⁾ Mary was born 1673.⁽¹⁵⁴⁾ Mary died 1743 at 70 years of age.⁽¹⁵⁵⁾
