1. John Herbert¹ Dillinger (John Wilson², Mathias E.³), son of John Wilson Dillinger and Mary Ellen "Molly" Lancaster, was born in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana 22 Jun 1903.⁽¹⁾ John died 22 Jul 1934 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, at 31 years of age.⁽²⁾ He shot outside the Biograph Theater in Chicago having fallen into a trap set by Anna Sage, also known as the "Lady in Red."⁽³⁾ His body was interred 26 Jul 1934 in Mooresville, Marion, Indiana, Crown Hill Cemetery.⁽⁴⁾

He married Beryl E. Hovious in Morgan County, Indiana, 12 Apr 1924.⁽⁵⁾ Beryl was born 6 Aug 1906. Beryl died 1994 at 87 years of age. Beryl was divorced from John Herbert Dillinger in prob. Indiana, 1929.⁽⁶⁾

John served in the military Jul 1923. He was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Facility and was then assigned to the USS Utah as a fireman.

He was imprisoned in Indiana, 1924 to 1933.⁽⁷⁾ John was divorced from Beryl E. Hovious in prob. Indiana, 1929.⁽⁸⁾
