6. Joseph Patrick2 Kennedy (Patrick Joseph3, Patrick4, Patrick5)(29) was born in East Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts September 6, 1888.(30) Joseph died November 18, 1969 in Hyannis Port, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, at 81 years of age.(31) His body was interred November 20, 1969 in Brookline, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, Holyhood Cemetery.(32)

He married Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, October 7, 1914.(33) The ceremony took place in the private chapel connected to the residence of Cardinal O'Connor. The bride wore a white satin gown. Following the cermony, the wedding party traveled to a reception at the Fitzgerald home at 39 Wells Avenue.

Rose was born in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts July 22, 1890.(34) Rose(35) was the daughter of John Francis Fitzgerald and Mary Josephine Hannon. She became engaged to Joseph Patrick Kennedy in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, June 1, 1914.(36) She resides in Hyannis Port, Barnstable County, Massachusetts July 17, 1993.

He was christened in East Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, September 9, 1888. He became engaged to Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, June 1, 1914.(37) Born in 1888, the grandson of an Irish immigrant, Joseph Patrick Kennedy had an enormous drive to acquire both fame and fortune. His often cited goal was to be a millionaire by the age of 35. Within a year and a half of graduating from Harvard College, he had progressed from bank clerk through bank examiner to bank president and was on his way. Publicity from being the youngest U. S. bank president opened doors to other opportunities. Soon his financial enterprises embraced real estate, the stock market and motion pictures. Kennedy's accumulated wealth by 1929 enabled him to establish one million dollar trust funds for each of his children. In the 1930's he began to put his intelligence, personality and money into politics. His involvement in Roosevelt's inner circle during the presidential campaign led him to believe he would receive a cabinet post. Although that never materialized, he was chosen to head the newly created Securities and Exchange Commission, the regulatory body set up to govern the financial community. Later, he headed the Maritime Commission. However, his most famous appointment was that of ambassador to the Court of Saint James. He served from 1937 until 1940 when he retired from public service and returned to the business world. In 1961 he suffered a debilitating stroke followed by relapses and heart attacks that left him virtually incapacitated until his death in 1969.

Joseph Patrick Kennedy and Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald had the following children:

child 7 i. Joseph Patrick1 Kennedy Jr. was born in Hull, Plymouth County, Massachusetts July 25, 1915. Joseph died August 12, 1944 2,000 feet in the air, one mile east of Blydhburgh, Suffolk, England, at 29 years of age.(38) Lt. Kennedy went on a special mission to pilot an unmanned robot plane that will be later piloted by radio from another aircraft. Joe and his co-pilot were to parachute out and be recovered on the ground while the other planes guided the drone to a German V-2 rocket-launching site in Normandy. The "drone" was filled with explosives, intent on destroying the launching site. Twenty-eight minutes into the flight, the PB-44 drone Liberator bomber exploded in the air, killing Lt. Kennedy and his co-pilot Lt. Willy. Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Jr. was the eldest and favorite son of Joseph Kennedy. Always considered the strongest and the bravest, he was extremely competitive and seemed to feel the keenest competition with Jack. His tendency for heroism and daring made him enter into some life threatening activities such as swimming the freezing and swift McClound River or taking a first time bobsled ride down a run on which experienced bobsledders had lost their lives. During World War II, he enlisted in the Navy, eager to fly and see action. Completing his tour of duty in 1944, he was packed to go home when he volunteered for a top-secret and dangerous mission without learning any of the details. Half an hour after take-off his plane exploded in mid-air.

William was born December 10, 1917. William died September 10, 1944 in Heppen, Belgium, at 26 years of age. Kathleen Kennedy was considered the most lively and vivacious of the Kennedy sisters. Nicknamed "Kick" by her father, the name seemed to reflect her love of life. While in England during her father's time as Ambassador, she fell in love with William Cavendish, the Marquess of Hartington. Though her family strongly opposed, they were married in 1944. Only her brother Joe attended from her side of the family. Kick's new husband was killed just 5 weeks later. After she began dating again she met Peter Fitzwilliam, another aristocratic Protestant. Because he was already married they kept their affair secret. In May of 1948 they decided to fly to Cannes for a long weekend. They ignored the pilot's warning that the weather was bad and they should cancel their trip. While flying over the Rhone valley, a storm pushed the small plane into the side of a mountain, killing all aboard.

His body was interred June 8, 1968 in Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, Arlington National Cemetary.(51) Lot 45-A, Section 30, is part of a parcel of land that was assigned in 1963 in honor of the late John F. Kennedy. President and Mrs. Johnson joined members of the Kennedy family at the service. Ethel was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois April 11, 1928. Ethel is the daughter of George Skakel and Ann Brannack.

Robert was honored in United States of America, June 9, 1968.(53) President Johnson declared this day a national day of mourning for the late Senator because of his assassination. Robert F. Kennedy was intense and introverted with a black-and-white philosophy of life. Things, ideas and people were either good or evil and his purpose was to expiate the evil. Very religious, at one point he considered entering the priesthood. After graduation from Harvard University and the University of Virginia Law School, he worked for McCarthy's subcommittee on internal security and then for the committee of inquiry into racketeering and corruption in the labor movement. Based on these hearings he wrote his book on union corruption, The Enemy Within. Bobby played an instrumental part in Jack's presidential election, and was subsequently appointed Attorney General despite adverse public reaction. He presided over the Department of Justice for 44 months, gaining respect as he dealt firmly with civil rights and labor issues. After JFK's assassination Bobby became the head of the Kennedy clan and the inheritor of the Kennedy legacy. Elected to the Senate from New York in 1964, he used that office to gear up for a 1968 presidential bid. He became the champion of the dispossessed and tried to forge a coalition of the young, the poor, blacks and intellectuals. He was well on his way to the nomination when he was assassinated by Sirhan Bishara Sirhan June 5, 1968.

child 13 viii. Jean Ann Kennedy was born in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts February 20, 1928.(54) Although the Kennedys were residents of New York, Rose returned to Boston so that Dr. Good could deliver the baby. Rose came to Boston from New York so that the baby could be delivered by Dr. Good. He married twice. He married Virginia Joan Bennett in Bronxville, Westchester County, New York, November 30, 1958. Virginia was born in Riverdale, Bronx, New York September 9, 1936. Virginia is the daughter of Harry Wiggin Bennett and Virginia Joan Stead. Virginia was divorced from Edward Moore Kennedy 1984. He married Victoria Anne Reggie After 1984.

Teddy was divorced from Virginia Joan Bennett 1984. Edward M. Kennedy is the only surviving Kennedy brother. Following family tradition, he graduated from Harvard University. After receiving a law degree from the University of Virginia, he worked on JFK's campaign. In 1962, at age 30, he won the Massachussets Senate seat once held by JFK. With one brother the President and the other the Attorney General, Teddy's political future seemed assured. After Bobby's assassination in 1968, Teddy became a substitute father to Bobby's children and the focal point of the Kennedy family: the one to carry on the political legacy. The 1969 Chappaquidick Island incident, resulting in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, ended his presidential possibilities for the 1972 election. He is currently (1988) a U. S. Senator from Massachusetts.
