He married Nancy Jane Aldridge in Fannin County, Texas, 28 Sep 1860.⁽¹¹⁾ Nancy was born in Tennessee ca 1842.⁽¹²⁾ Nancy was the daughter of James T. Aldridge and Mary Chadwell. Nancy died 1883 at 41 years of age.⁽¹³⁾ Her body was interred in Fannin County, Texas, Porter's Chapel Cemetery.⁽¹⁴⁾

Dr. William Franklin Welch and Nancy Jane Aldridge had the following children:
