Marlene
Dietrich was born December 27, 1901, in Berlin-Schöneberg, Germany. Dietrich studied piano and violin before enrolling at the Max Reinhardt Drama School. She enjoyed early success as a cabaret performer before landing her first starring film roles in 1929. The success of the international film The Blue Angel (1930) enabled her to move to Hollywood where her allure soon established her as a most enduring icon. Dietrich married Rudolf Sieber in May 1924 and nine months later they had their only child, Maria. Dietrich and Sieber lived apart but remained legally married for more than 50 years, until his death in 1975.
