1. Mary¹ Stuart "Queen of Scots" (James V², James IV³, James III⁴, James II⁵, James I⁶, Robert III⁷), daughter of James V Stuart and Mary de Guise de Lorraine, was born in Linlithgow Palace, Scotland 7 Dec 1542. Mary died 8 Feb 1587 in Northampton, England, at 44 years of age. Her body was interred 1612 in London, England, Westminster Abbey.

She married twice. She married Francis II de Valois in Paris, France, 24 Apr 1558. Francis was born in France 16 Jan 1544. She married Henry Stuart Lord Darnley in Edinburgh, Scotland, 29 Jul 1565. Henry was born in Yorkshire, England 7 Dec 1545. Henry was the son of Matthew Stuart Earl Lennor 4th and Lady Margaret Douglas.

2 i. James I Stuart was born in Edinburgh, Scotland 19 Jun 1566. James died 27 Mar 1625 in Hertfordshire, England, at 58 years of age. He married Anne Oldenburg of Denmark in Oslo, Norway, 23 Nov 1589. Despite Mary I of England's plans, which were intended to prevent the Stuart line from gaining the thrown of England, James would not only become James VI of Scotland, but also James I of England when he acceded the throne 25 Jul 1603.
