| Richard Nixon
was born on January 9, 1913 on the family lemon farm in Yorba Linda,
California. He would graduate from law school, serve in the Navy,
and launch a victorious campaign for Congress by the age of 33.
Described by friends as a mild and tolerant person who was much
influenced by his Quaker upbringing, he served as Vice President
under President Eisenhower and was elected President in 1968. In
1974, Richard Nixon became the first U.S. President to resign after
a break-in at Democratic national headquarters in Washington, D.C.'s
Watergate apartment complex was linked to his campaign. |
