1. Reuben¹ Byrd was born ca 1826. Reuben died 17 Apr 1863 in Pike County, Ohio, at 36 years of age.⁽¹⁾

He married Sarah Hemings 1858.⁽²⁾ Sarah was born in Virginia 9 Nov 1835.⁽³⁾ Sarah was the daughter of Madison Hemings and Mary McCoy. Sarah died 11 Nov 1884 at 49 years of age.⁽⁴⁾

Reuben Byrd and Sarah Hemings had the following children:

2 i. Emma J.² Byrd⁽⁵⁾ was born in Ohio ca 1860.⁽⁶⁾ Emma died 1940 at 80 years of age. She married George Young. George was born 1860. George died 1941 at 81 years of age. (See George Young for the continuation of this line.)

3 ii. Anna F. Byrd⁽⁷⁾ was born ca 1861. Anna died 17 Apr 1863 in Pike County, Ohio, at 1 year of age.

+ 4 iii. Reuben M. Byrd Jr. was born ca 1863.
