My ancestor is Louis Marney dit Richelieu in the regiment of Guyenne and the company of Montagnier. He settled in Quebec after the war and in May 1775 he joined the American Army with his son Louis Marney Jr. in the American Revolution. I've been able to document his service in the American Revolution, but I also want to do the same for his service in the Seven Years War.
Does anyone know if the French soldiers that remained in Quebec after the war, had to sign any form of document to swear allegance to the British crown? Does anyone know if they have enlistment or service records available on microfilms? Are there paylists or muster rolls?
I would also be interested in any published material about the Regiment of Guyenne.
