I am searching for a James MOODY that was b.c1731 who sailed out of Ireland and landed at Delaware (prob. New Castle) in 1758 (per ship lists). My question is, were they recruiting men out of Nor. Ireland or Scotland to come help fight in the French & Indian War in 1757/58? My 5th grt. grandfather's name was James MOODY and I know he fought during the Rev. War at Ticonderoga (enlisted there into Capt. Daniel Lane's Comp. / Col. Ichabod Alden's 7th MA regt.), and served there for 3 + years. This James MOODY who landed in DE in 1758 was age 27 at the time however, so this might not be my 5th grt. grandfather. My 5th grt. grandfather showed up in Buxton, York Co., ME in Jan. 1774 and married my 5th grt. grandmother Elizabeth DONALD/Donnell. Were they by any chance giving Land Grants in Nargansett Township aka Buxton, ME or anywhere near there for services done during the French & Indian Wars? Someone said that This James of Delaware served in a PA regt. but I don't know if that was for the Seven Years War or later for the Rev. War. If anyone here can offer any help I would be Most Greatful. Thank You very much.
