You should not give out Family Tree account but is your Locke matching other's with the Locke surname or is he matching people of other surnames and how many markers did he test?
The Jones connected to us in our area connects to Samuel Finley Patterson. We have Jones connected to Martin and one of our Martin's Y-DNA matches Patterson with no paper why. Our cousin's ancestor got his Martin surname from his mother. Our cousin's ancestor's 1/2 brother Martin claims to be fathered by a Robinson but have not seen Y-DNA to confirm the claim. This 1/2 brother Martin who claims he was fathered by a Robinson, his wife was a Ramsey and maybe related to my Ramsey who was the wife of my Hood. Robinson connects to Spencer. Spencer connects to Robinson, Martin and Shell. The Sherills connect to them also. Our neighbor Smith only has record of 2 of his daughters one was married (no marriage record) to a Helton and the other a Thomas surname. My martin was bondsman on a Helton marriage and my Martin's 1st wife (not my ancestor) may have been a Helton.
I have seen the Hoffmans around but have not researched them. This goes for your other surnames too.
If your family is not who they say they are like ours your surnames will start to mean nothing. Even though Gene died a few years ago you could still do a family finder DNA test on his DNA if his vials are still good. Maybe some of his cousin matches will help you??? Y DNA is only one line of many ancestors. Family Finder test goes to all ancestors a person inherited DNA from. Using Y and MT DNA along with family finder test may lead you to more answers.
