See notice I sent Kathy Roberts under this question of yours...... I am a descendant of John Ward, son of Bryan Ward.I have an approved DAR line from them both. You can find records in the following places on John Ward and Bryan Ward.
Bryan's wife is simply named Ann in the following document. Franklin County, Georgia[His Will dated 1815] Minutes of the Court Ordinary 1814-1823 pp 50-50A
Franklin County, Georgiaalso names Ann, his wife Deed Book C pp 531,533,5341766-1774 Deed Book LLLpp 1641794
Office of the Clerk, Franklin Co., Ga. 1796Deed Book M pp 164-164B, 165Document names wife Ann but signature is typed asBryan B. Ward and Ann P. Ward [Sometimes you find when you look at the original document that the middle in a name is really their X...if they did not know how to write their name and that seems to add an added intial to their name when someone types up from the original...that happened so many times]
North Carolina State Records p. 701-702states Bryan Ward of Georgia
SpringPlace Moravian Mission by Muriel Wright 1940 p55-89 In this account, it states that John Ward was born in Ireland, came to America in 1764, found his father who was also from Ireland and had come earlier on to America. The wife and mother had died, and John found his father married to Nancy Kingfisher.Bryan and Nancy parted after they had a daughter, Elizabeth in 1759.Elizabeth married General Joseph Martin.Bryan, it seems, married again to Ann, earliest record found is 1766.....and he died naming in will his wife Ann.
Descendants of Nancy Wardby David Hamptonfound in the Angelo State University Library p 1 states Elizabeth, daughter of Bryan Ward and Nancy Kingfisher Ward was born 1759.
Now it could be that from these dates Bryan came to America from Ireland...had married and had John in Ireland as some documents indicate. Then John comes to America and finds Bryan and Nancy married and had a child. Then they part company and he is shown to be married to Ann by 1766.This would seem reasonable by dates.....
All I know is what I have from family and documents and they have been approved.I come from this family thru John Ward, the son of Bryan Ward.John Ward m. Kati McDaniel and their son, George Ward married Lucy Mayes. That has been approved by DAR as a verified lineage. Who was the Ann?I do not know but she seems to have married after Bryan was married to Nancy. I hope this explains some of your questions. You know there is much forklore in some of this but go by the documents that are recorded in the courthouses ---those are the most realiable. You know that in any lineage there is always some folklore...and some is added to make it more interesting. But I would rather document with records and dates and then it all begins to make sense and then can be proven.
Remember also there were two Bryan Wards.Bryan Ward has a son Bryan Ward...and many times the names get confused in documents so be careful when you see records...put them in some kind of dated order. That helps.
