Thank you. I have a lot more digging to do before I can even claim this man and probably will never be able too. Old Family Bible (which I think is in possession of the DAR now)states that my gggrandfather was born near Lockport in 1807 and his brother near Albion in 1805 and that their parents were John and Matilda Preston Wilcox. There is a notation beside John that says "in rev". In 1840 there is an older couple 60-70 with William in Jackson county, MI and a mention in a Lenawee co MI book that Abner's (William's borther) father John moved from NY and lived near Abner in Lenawee co til his death. I am wondering if the person (grandaughter of Wm) didn't miss a generation and that the John in the Revolution had a son John. Confusing to say the least!
