Dear Yvonne, It is different looking up people born after 1930.They haven't published the 1940 census yet--not till 2012, at least, when the youngest people on it will be 72.
When I look for people born after 1930, I can look on Ancestry. It's home edition is expensive, though you can subscribe by the month, but public libraries usually have it, and it's free there.www.ancestry.com
You can go to the Family Search Labs of the Mormon Church. They're free. When you get to the page I'll give you, scroll down to Family Search Beta and click on it. https://labs.familysearch.org/
My best results for people currently living are from Intelius' People Search.http://www.intelius.com/http://www.intelius.com/ You get a little information for free, and sometimes it's enough. For about two dollars you get the names and all addresses, names of relatives, and house values. That's usually enough. They also have complete background checks, but I don't pay for those.I don't usually need the information. There are a lot of people searching sites. Many of them shift you over to Intelius' People Search.I also use Dex White Pages to see if anything looks promising. There is a people search affiliated with Facebook. The initial information is free, but you have to pay to get more. It's called My Life, I think.
Since so many people are using social media, it's worthwhile searching on Facebook and My Space and UTube and all.People are not usually using good security settings, and you can get all of their profile and photos and friends list. Sincerely, Kate
