Thank you for your research.I see that you went through all of the records and came to the same conclusion as I had - reenforced by the information written in response to Mr O B Brown's query about him.
Appreciate you correcting me on the calvary and cavalry. Thankfully, in my lifetime I have heard more about calvary than cavalry!
We cannot find John Kamp/Kemp anywhere after the Oct 1864 record. His wife may have remarried in Hardeman Co TN in 1868 (Mary Jane Kempf(sp?)to George W Burt.) She had an Emanuel in 1860 and a M A C in 1870 and Manuel Bushard in 1880.He seems to have been given Mary Jane's husbands' names on 1870 and 1880 census. Our interest in this family began our ancestor, Emanuel Alexander Kemp born in MS, in Jackson Co AR before 1900.
Thanks for any additional civil war information you come up with.Have not found any pension records on him or Mary Jane.
