Thomas Donaldson
I am trying to find the final resting place of this Civil War soldier who served in the Company G, 28 Wisconsin Vol.
He lived in Brookfield, Waukesha, Wisconsin, mustered into service October 1862.He Enlisted in Company G, Wisconsin 28th Infantry Regiment on 19 Aug 1862. Promoted to Full Sergeant.Mustered out on 06 Apr 1863 at Yazoo Pass Expedition, MS. He died on the steamer "St Louis" as they were retreating from the failed attack at the Yazoo Pass.
I have looked high and low but have been unable to find his his final resting place.Would he have been taken back home to Wisconsin where his wife and family lived?I have his military records and pension records and no mention of his burial, only he died of disease on the steamer St. Louis.
Any help would be appreciated.
