There was only one Garvey who served in the Light Brigade.The Muster Rolls give his name as James or John Garvey, regimental number 921, 4th Light Dragoons.He enlisted in June 1838 and was with the 4th Light Dragoons throughout the Crimean War. He was awarded the Crimean War Medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, and Sebastopol.The award of the Balaclava Clasp does not ensure that he rode in the Charge, for there were over 800 clasps awarded and only over 600 chargers, but since a definitive list will never be achieved, he at least is a possibility.Please advise what information you have on him . . . as Edward John may be the same person.
