Hi Sue. I see it is some time since you posted your question.I successfully transferred data to a new computer from old. Firstly install Family Tree Creator programme into the new computer.Secondly search for your family tree file on your old computer. It may be in My Documents in a file you named for your family tree.If you cannot find it use the Search feature. When you locate the file you will probably have to send it to a Zip disc or large disc because the file will probably be too large for a floppy.Highlight your family tree file and then right click with your mouse.Up will come a window.Click on Send To.Then a window will come up to reveal all the discs and files on your computer.Select your Zip drive or whatever device holds the disc you are using to capture the family tree file and click. The file will be dupliciated on that disc. You can then insert it into your new computer and save the file to, say, My Documents. Then open your newly installed Family Tree Creator in your new computer.Go to File.Click on Open.A window will allow you to seek out your family tree file in My Documents. Click on it.It will then open up in your new computer.
Now if you do not have a Zip drive or similar to transfer your family tree file you might try sending it to yourself by email.Send it to yourself as an attachment on your old computer.Receive it on your new machine. If the file is not too large, it just might work.Good luck. Ash.
