thank you for answering my query regarding this. the question i was trying to get answered is if a member of genealogy.com can ban someone from posting messages on forums? the reason why i asked this was because, alot of people on a forum i frequently visit got angry because i posted some copyrighted material on the board and did not post the source. after i did this, it was no time before they were looking up stuff on me and posting this on genforum. one of the ladies went as far as to put my IP address out in the open for everyone in the entire world to see....i did not like this and last week i wrote a rather long message and informed every single one of them professional genealogists that what they were saying about me was considered by the law was textbook slander. so, i post the message and go on about my normal life.
on wednesday of that week, after posting the message on either sunday or monday, i was notified that my services at genforum were banned until i was let up. i have two accounts with genealogy.com. one is the one that is banned. i did get two accounts because my main email was blocking any of these notifications and considering them spam. so, i created another. well..that one is blocked.
so, i logged into this one last week and i got a rather nasty message from "yankee woman", which asked me if i was going to make people angry, then i needed to post my information on surname boards and not on public boards..etc. well, everything on these board's are public, as far to my knowledge. then, this group decided to view my posting history to my account which got banned and raised cane at me because i posted wills that came out of a copyrighted book---which i had permission to print them from.
my question is--can users of genealogy.com ban my account?
