I did try the link you posted on 04/22/09 as follows:
Genealogy.com Site Search The link is too long to fit in the search box.So I tried several abbreviated forms all with the same result: "No documents match the query"
Google Search Inserting the whole link in the search box results in: Community www.genealogy.com/users/k/a/r/index.html And, clicking on that leads to: Family Home Page Search (on the Genealogy.com site) With the alphabetical list of family home pages from A -- K
GenForum Link I tried the link on a draft message page and it didn't work; so I dropped it -- not wanting to post a message just for the purpose of testing a link.
I don't know why, but I didn't think to click the link on your message of 04/22, which I did today, and it worked just fine -- a prompt connection to my Genealogy.com Family Home Page.
So, that's a great way to create an easy to use link from a GenForum message to a genealogy.com Family Home Page for third party readers -- i.e., the folks -- to use.Problem solved. Many thanks.
Other Search Options It would still be nice to have an easy way to direct other people to my Genealogy.com Family Home Page both: -After accessing the Genealogy.com Home Page and using the internal site search; and, -Using an outside search engine such as Google.
I would think that there must be a way, especially after using the link provided on the notification email from: email@example.com The link to your last message was: http://genforum.genealogy.com/gcomgeneral/message/1591.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/gcomgeneral/message/1591.html And, it worked very well to take me promptly from the email program to your message on genforum.
A good search function for the genealogy.com Family Home Pages would make the site far more useful; and I would think would promote their business.
