I have read that if you can, you want to try to get the Declaration of Intent. And my question refers to both of them. I have a year for my gr.grandfathers naturalization..its about 13 yrs. later so might be a little off. What I'm trying to find out is if any of his family-wife, children, sibs, parents would be mentioned or would it just be him (like only the head of household in the census). I'm also hoping the ship he and his family came on will be mentioned so I can search for other family members but don't know. I'm thinking if it was that long after he immigrated, maybe the details wouldn't be as accurate. Still worth a look I'm sure but I'm sure he traveled with sibs and some children that died before the 1900 census. I have a photo, roughly 1890 that has children who don't match the ages of those in the census(2 def. look older). I'm having a hard time finding out who they were. There is also another man in the picture- no idea who he is either but he looks like a poss. sibling. Anyway..I'm hoping his declaration of intent or nat. papers will help out but I'm not clear what is actually on them. He immig in 1884, naturalized in 1897(it's clear on one census, fuzzy on 2 others so I can't double check). Thanks for any help.
