Post this query to the state and county forums where he lived, and most important, to the Moore surname forum. Except for counties, these forums can found by clicking the "Home" link at the upper left of any GenForum page. To find counties, go to the State forum and click the "Counties for this State" link located in the upper right of the state page.
If you use Ancestry.com census database, use wild cards in searching for people. An example would be Jac* Moo* in the name fields. For more information go to the Ancestry.com home page at http://www.ancestry.comhttp://www.ancestry.com and click the "Learning Center" link. Not only will you find information on wild cards but you will find other aids in genealogical research. Another "how to do it" place is GenForum. In the blue header at the top of any GenForum page is a link to the Genealogy.com "Learning Center." Also, Rootsweb has a guide to tracing family trees at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rwguide/http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rwguide/.
And, I would be remiss by omitting GenForum user Ted Pack's site. A favorite page is entitled "Posting Good Queries" at http://www.tedpack.org/goodpost.htmlhttp://www.tedpack.org/goodpost.html.
