I haven't posted to this board lately and one reason is my deteriorating eyesight. I can still muddle along with the printed word but script, particularly old script, just about drives me crazy. I just recently located a court case via the Library of Virginia online with actual images of the documents [Louisa Co., Index No. 1828-015, Chancery Court, Wm. Fortson, et al vs Stephen Fortson, et al].I have provided a link to the records below. Briefly, the Stephen Fortson named is a maternal great-grandfather 4x and the Samuel Brookin named is a maternal great-grandfather 3x. Stephen's daughter, Martha Fortson, married Samuel Brookin (sometimes Brookins, Brookings). I haven't to date proven the parentage of either Stehen Fortson or Samuel Brookin but perhaps these documents will furnish a clue or more - once I know exactly what they say. Maybe someone with a little time on their hands and better peepers than me will take a look. Also, any observations or opinions will be appreciated. Given the holiday spirit, I hope I won't bear to much criticism from any grinches out there for posting a non-general query.
Here is the link, there are a total of 12 documents:
