Thanks for the information. I don't have any good suggestions though other than to suspect that your file may be corrupt.
You should take a look around
to see if you can find anything relevant to your particular problem. Other than that you should make several backup copies of your family file and then experiment.
Try your troublesome file on another computer to see if that makes any difference.
Try Save A Copy from the File menu and select Compact Copy from the Type box.
Try exporting GEDCOM and import the GEDCOM into a new family file, but this may result in the loss of some notes and sources.
Try importing your .uds family file into The Master Genealogist.
The best transfer I know of from Generations to another program via GEDCOM is to Family Historian.
