I think the first thing to try is to uninstall and reinstall Generations. Does that make any difference? I did reinstall it - but about uninstalling it I was afraid I would lose my entire tree (32,700+ indivuals)
Try rebuilding the index -- Option menu, Indexing, Rebuild Index. I just did that - with the same results - sill diappears when I attempt to scroll
Can you test a copy of your family file on another computer? I did about a week ago send a GEDCOM of the entire tree to a friend in Michigan - she appears to have it OK - But that was BEFORE this disappearing thing began
Please create a small test family file to see if the problem occurs in there. If that works ok, I have another tree on the program just for my Parkers with 4000+eople in it - that one works fine - scrolling and all
I suggest that you revert to your last good backup. I recommend that you create several copies of your backups before you open them.
I might add, if I did not in the first message - that when I try to scroll - the index screen goes blank -but if I click on the index screen with the cursor a name will appear - I can then sor of drag the cursor either to the top of the index screen or to the bottom and it will go until I stop in either direction - not as fast as the scroll - but I will get there eventually - What I have been doing is moving the scroll button until it is in a psition where I think, for example "schm..." might be - then either click on the screen or on the little arrow until it gets where I want to go.
I am just hoping that I will not lose everything I have made some backups but the computer has not beeen able to open them for some time- but I did try one on a windows 95 computer on which I installed the program and the backup was all there - so as far as I know the CD burner does make a backup - I just cannot use it on my computer anymore - but that has been for some time now.
