I managed to load Gen v8 onto my laptop vista using the following steps:
Load the CD and then us My Computer to open up the CD to look at the files. Find the SETUP file and right click on it. Go to Properties and then Compatibility tab. Click the check-box for compatibility mode and choose Windows 98/ME. The install will start. It does give an error on loading the web publishing but don't worry about it. When it gets to the end of the install DO NOT rpt DO NOT restart your computer as it suggests as behind the setup screen is another install screen for the Borland Engine. Click on Restart Later and then the Borland Engine install screen will be visiable. Go through that install as normal. Once Borland Engine has install reboot your PC. I found two errors on opening up Gen8, basically two files were not copied across from the install. You will need to open Gen8 twice to get the two filenames as I can not remember them. Basically open up Gen8 and take a note of the filename in the error box, then close down Gen8. Go to the Gen8 CD and search for the file and then copy to the Windows/System32 folder. Restart Gen8 and then take a note of the filename on the 2nd error box and go through the same process of coping the file from the CD to the System32 folder. After that Gen8 should work fine. It still has the printing error that people have described early, but at least the application does work on Vista.
