This started about 10 days ago. When one adds a new person with a little data (on MS XP using Generations 8.5.0), all of the info on that person disappears and the gender changes to a blank, neuter "box."(This is a gender box with the pointed, angular sides.)
The blank cannot be worked with, except one can drag it to the Easy Tree trash can. Likewise, if one goes to an older entry person in the tree, someone who already has information posted, if one then tries to add another fact, that person, "poof," also disappears into an empty, neutered box. This a very destructive, demoralizing fault.
This seemed partially like a problem encountered 3 years ago, which was corrected by going to "run" and msconfig, then startup, etc. At that time unticking OpwareSE2 solved the problem. With the present problem, unticking even all of the startup choices does not stop the problem.
I should say that the tree is >200,000 people in size, since I use it as a county tree. I have other EasyTree trees of much smaller size. The blank-neutering problem does not appear to occur with them. I tried deleting the large tree, and installing a backed up (on flashdrive)copy that was about 12 days older. This cost me the loss of several hundred recent additions, but seemed worth it, since the slightly older copy worked normally --- for a couple of days. Then the dreaded blank-neuter problem returned.
I am at a loss to know what to do next. I don't know of anything brand new that was installed in the last couple of weeks. However, things probably auto-install themselves every day. I would greatly appreciate fresh ideas?
