I bought Generations version 4.x and 5.2 some years ago and have upgraded 5.2 using the free patches that are available to version 6.x etc. I have always been very happy with the software, although like many UK users am unhappy at the way the software is marketed in the UK considering the majority of bundled CD's are of no use to researchers in this country. However I am interested to know more on the latest version of the software. It would appear that the current UK version available is 8.5a and I am very interested in purchasing it. However I do have concerns with this version because having visited several review websites (including this one) version 8.x seems to get a lot of bad press. I currently operate Windows 2000 and wondered if anyone could supply me with details of the benefits of upgrading to this version and whether I could expect any problems.
Also I am aware that TWR Computing in the UK supplies an upgrade from any version of Generations to V8.5a for what seems a fitting price. I have tried to get in touch with them regarding this matter and have left a message but they have so far failed to get back to me. Has anyone purchased this version and is it any good?
