Genealogy.com's billing practices for it's monthly services are fraudulent. We used the service for some time, researching our families trees. When we chose to cancel the monthly service in October of 2003, the monthly charges stopped. But in december, they charged us 79.95 for an annual service we did not authorize. When I called them to get it off the card, they said we had a second account that was not cancelled and therefore the charge was good. When we called in October, we told them we wanted to cancel the service, and assumed it was done when we did not receive a charge in November. We were never told we had two accounts.
I will go to my credit card company for action but until I get a credit on my credit card, I will post this message daily on any genealogy.com chat room and message area I can so others are not ripped off like they are trying to do to us. Take that, Genealogy.com!!!
