Terry pointed you to the correct Generations Tip.There is no patch per se for the Sierra releases ;-(The Generations Tip describes a workaround to the problem.
Sierra stopped program development before Windows XP was released and the Easytree color palette problem is caused by a difference in the way color palettes are handled between Windows 95/98/ME and Windows NT4/2000 Pro/XP.The number of Sierra users who were using the software on NT4 and 2000 Pro was insufficient to persuade upper levels of management (about the Generations team) to take the time to patch that bug ;-(
The Genealogy.com/Broderbund releases (Generations Family Tree and Generations Family Tree Plus) fix that bug. They DO require a patch to fix the resulting printing problem that resulted
I have a Generations Tutorial on my site on how one can setup the software to run both the Sierra and Genealogy.com/Broderbund releases in parallel. One can use the Genealogy.com/Broderbund version of Easytree with the Sierra version of Easychart.
Why would you want to do that, you might ask?(1) You can have two different family files open at the same time - one in each program, and (2) you may wish to use the CD-based databases with the Sierra package.
