1) I don't believe detailing my needs in Online Help Center would result in improvement of a search engine that does not recognise a search for one state's data. The problem isn't a personal one, but one dealing with programming of the search engine available to users of the genealogy.com online website. Part of the problem may be in a search for 17th century data, with the search engine returning data from other centuries, as well as from other original colonies besides NY.
2) This issue deals with one search engine, not all Search EngineS available. I access genealogy.com via Family Tree Maker, have done so for many years and am familiar with the usage of OFFR.Currently, I own subscriptions to 2 Data Collections, have purchased 16 CD's, with one on order and intend to purchase more.
Finally, I'm not a novice with search engines or computers, but a 72-year-old retired mechanical engineer and programmer, who was using PC's when DOS was the only OpSys available and Windows only gleam in Gates' eye.Further, I've been a genealogist since printed forms were the only means of recording data.
If Genealogy.com and Family Tree Maker have improved their search engines over time, then they are totally aware of any deficiencies in them and need no help from me in making them more efficient. Hopefully, they'll do so with the one in question.....eventually.
