Jean. I, too, have ancestors in King Philip's War.
I descend from John Gallup III, son of John II & Hannah (Lake) Gallup. John Gallup III settled in Stonington, CT on a land grant to his father for services in the Indian Wars.He participated in King Philip's War and was with his father in the Swamp Fight at Narragansett.John III was a renowned Indian interpreter and he later represented Stonington, CT in General Court 1685, 1696-1698. Shortly before the turn of the 18th Century, John III and his six sons were granted land in the town of Plainfield, Windham County, CT, but he never lived there.
