The numbers you mention in the Ft Lawton area could be the unit he was with.Let me know what they are.The 27th Infantry Division did fight in Korea w/ a distinguished record. When a soldier qualified on the rifle range, he qualified with the M-l which was the basic weapon.The carbine was added to his medal because he also qualified with that weapon.I carried the carbine in Korea.
