Thanks for your reply. I think I seen the website you were refering to. Is it put up by Maurice Vallee? If so, I've already been in touch with Maurice. He was very helpful. He told me what microfilm my ancestors enlistment was on and I recently was able to photocopy it through inter-library loan.
He is also the one that informed me of the connection between my ancestors obituary that stated he was captured in 1808 and the fact that the Regiment de Meuron recruited many French off the prison pontoons off the coast of Cadiaz that had been captured at the Battle of Bailen.
Does your husband have a copy of the enlistment record of his deMeuron ancestor? While I was going through the film, I'm sure I noticed a Bain. I was closely checking out all the names of those that enlisted at Gibraltar on May 30, 1809, and there were many! If interested it's on microfilm # B-5512 at the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa.
