The gedcom route is NOT the way to go. Especially if you have any media (photos, etc) attached. There are a couple of options. What I would do is compact my file, then back up my file, copy that backup file to removable media (USB, etc) or burn it to a CD. On the new computer (after the installation is complete and any updates that need to be installed) Do a restore from backup and point to the backup. This procedure should give you a clean working file on the new computer. Hope that helps. Bob N.
