Colin, I was typing from memory, from reading the census, which was not in front of me at the time. I double checked the census, which were taken every 10 yrs for tax purposes. Today, we consult them for clues to the lives of our ancestors. The 1850 census shows he, his 2 brothers and his 2 sisters born in MO, with parents born in KY. The 1860 shows he and his parents were born in KY, brother James born Iowa, 3 sisters born MO, brother Charles born KS. The census info was written to the best of the giver's knowledge, who could have been a neighbor, if the family was not available, or a child if the parents were in the fields. The census taker had to travel about his appointed route and complete it by a certain date, and to backtrack would not always been practical. That partially explains why the info may not be totally consistent year to year. Are you related to either William Anderson?
