Johnson, Kan., March 17,--( AP ) -- The three Manter, Kan., bank bandits were taken secretly from the county jail here early tonight to Denver, Colo., where they will be held for prosecution on murder charges for slaying of Deputy Sheriff C. A. Hickman at Eads in a gunfight last Friday.
LAMAR, -- March 17,--( AP ) -- The trio of Manter, Kan., bank bandits in the custody of four Colorado police officers, stopped here tonight for half an hour. The party left by a secret route for Denver at 9 p. m. expecting to arrive in the Colorado capital between two and three tomorrow morning. JOHNSON, Kan., March 17, -- ( AP ) – The state of Kansas, which bars capital punishment, today virtually waived over to Colorado which retains the noose for murders, the three bank robbers held here after their death dealing 26 hours motor car flight last Friday and Saturday. Their capture ended a manhunt in the arroyo country along the Colorado-Kansas line in which hundreds of possemen took part. First degree murder charges were filed against the trio at Eads, Colo., today and preparations were being made for their early departure to Colorado from Kansas, where the most severe charges against them is bank robbery. The wounded leader of the three confessed robbers of the Manter State bank in this country last Friday, John walker, 41, of Joplin, Mo., admitted to authorities the three fled through Colorado, but said he remained in the car while the other two engaged in gun fights, which brought death to Deputy Sheriff C.
